Law No. 06/L-079 on Energy Efficiency

Law No. 06/L-079 on Energy Efficiency, adopted by the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo on December 5, 2018, establishes the legal framework for promoting and implementing energy efficiency measures in the country. This law aligns with the European Union directives and Kosovo’s obligations under the Energy Community Treaty.

Purpose and Objectives

According to the law, public institutions are required to:

  • Report on the actions taken and results achieved in the field of energy efficiency.

Role of the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Agency (KEEA)

KEEA is responsible for:

  • Implementing policies and measures for energy efficiency.

  • Monitoring and reporting progress in this field.

  • Supporting institutions and the private sector in implementing energy efficiency measures.

Sub-Legal Acts and Administrative Instructions

To implement the law, several sub-legal acts have been adopted, including:

  • Administrative instructions for energy audits.

  • Criteria for energy efficiency in public procurement.

  • Regulations on the organization and functioning of the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund.
